Our Services in Kigoma Region
I. BON CONSILII MABAMBA GIRLS SECONDARY SCHOOL
African sisters are doing a leadership role at Bon consilii girls secondary schools. This school is at a very remote area in the western part of Tanzania, just 16 kilometers from Burundi. The impact of the school is so much that one may not explain it in few words. In short the school is the light to the girl child in rural areas.
II. SOCIAL AND PASTORAL WORK AT MABAMBA
Mabamba is a very rural and hard to reach area found at the boarder of Tanzania with Burundi in Kigoma Region- Tanzania. People living in this area are sadly very poor with no access to some basic human needs. Sisters live and serve among these people as a means to help them raise their standards of living. Poverty is affecting the whole community but women are affected more because there are many cases of early marriages, women single parents and cultural beliefs that disempower women socially and financially. The major economic activities women are involved in are small scale enterprises/businesses and cultivation. They do not move from where they are economically because of inadequate skills, lack of capital for their businesses and fertilizers for their gardens. Sisters s support them in their economic activities, vocational skills and life- skills so that, they can live a dignified life as human beings.
III. REGUGEES, SOCIAL AND PASTORAL WORK AT KIBONDO
In Kibondo there are camps of refugees from Burundi and Democratic Republic of Congo. Sisters give psycho- social support to refugees and support them spiritually.
IV. HEALTH CENTRE AT KIBONDO
Because of the challenges of death of mothers and children which is rampart in Kibondo district and few hospitals. Sisters are constructing a health centre with the aim to intervene and support the local people of Kibondo. The helath centre will provide medical services to all people since health care is a basic need.
V. ADMINISTRATION WORK AT THE DIOCESE
There are sisters who work as accountants and secretaries at the archdiocese of Kigoma. These are meeting various people every day and support them in various ways.
