African Sisters started working in Tanzania since 1964 where they established themselves in Kigoma region and later extended their services to Kagera/Bukoba and Tabora. They were registered by the Tanzanian government in 2019 and obtained a certificate of registration and that of the board of trustees.

Sisters serve through provision of education at all levels, health, administrative work, in refugee camps, in parishes and the community at large. In addition, they do social work and offer counselling services in order to form a person in all aspects. They serve where there is a need according to the signs of time and the will of God. They focus mainly on the lowly of the society and in rural areas, that is why they live among the poor of the poorest. .
